Health and Safety Officer

Job Scope

Maintaining the safety and health of employees and safety work environment by ensure the implementation of safety policies and procedures as well as documenting and reporting work related injuries or accidents while detecting system vulnerabilities and recommending proactive procedures.

Education

Job Requirements:

B.A degree in Engineering, Science or any related field to Occupational health, safety and environment.

Experience

0-2 years of experience in a related position preferable in a pharmaceutical industry and/ or a large facility.

Language

Good written, reading, spoken Arabic and English languages

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensure the implementation of all safety policies and procedures in order to maintain safe work environment and suggest any process improvement initiatives and activities where applicable.
• Prepare emergency plans and ensure their proper implementation as per the company’s policies and procedures Coordinate with the civil defense and local authorities regarding standards and regulations as needed.
• Provide training for MSPS employees regarding safety regulations, policies and procedures.
• Detect system vulnerabilities, recommend and implement proactive actions and Keep abreast with the latest developments in safety procedures and equipment.
• Maintain all firefighting equipment to a high standard and ensures equipment is always in a good condition.
• Conduct fire prevention inspections, fire equipment inspections in the site in compliance with fire prevention regulations and keep the related records up to date.
• Coordinate mutual fire protection plans, emergency responses and other department activities with surrounding authorities, other departments and organizations.
• Participate in chemical spill or another hazardous materials clean-up and deploys specialist equipment.
• Respond and render assistance to all emergencies in the facility as an emergency team member to fires, chemical spill or release, injuries, or other incident related to MSPS.
• Investigate causes of fires, work accidents, injuries, following trends, conducting thorough investigations, and recommending various solutions, including better communications, training, modifications to work methods or equipment, and the like as needed.
• Conduct safety inspections of work areas, advising supervisory personnel of appropriate personal protective equipment for workers, safety hazards, violation of safety rules and regulations, and prepares safety inspection reports for the head of department
• Ensures safety posters and safety rules are posted in conspicuous places for employees/workers to see regularly in compliance with Saudi labor law.
• Maintain records of all inspections and investigations, for both fire and safety matter up to date.
• Reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking materials, unsafe acts or conditions, malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, security incidents.
• Responsible for developing policies covering environmental protection, nature conservation; enforcing environmental legislation; monitoring environmental quality; providing collection, transfer, treatment and disposal facilities for many types of waste; advising on the environmental implications of new policies; handling pollution complaints and incidents.
