Position Title Shift Operation Engineer Location AMUNET – Ras Gharib, Egypt Reporting to Maintenance Manager

Position Purpose

The Shift Operation Engineer will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of HV Substation and BoP. He must supervise, lead and implement the Substation monitoring, operation and reporting activities in a professional manner during the operational phase of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the substation normal monitoring, operation, including startup and shutdown of Substation components and auxiliaries during normal and emergency conditions in accordance with the Company operating procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Respond to abnormalities and take corrective actions consistent with established operating procedures and good engineering practice.
  • Conducts routine tours of the substation to inspect equipment; provides feedback to other employees.
  • Complies with all site safety requirements and procedures. Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintains accuracy of shift operating logs, records, time sheets, work orders and other administrative documents related to the substation.
  • Performs the switching and tagging of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and prudent operations and maintenance practices under the direction of Management when assigned.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under direction of Management when assigned.
  • Investigates site problems, incidents, accidents and unusual events, and provides analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans.
  • Develops, assists, and revises operations and maintenance related procedures.
  • Performs and maintains housekeeping standards and duties.
  • Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised.
  • Maintain continuous Coordination with EETC/NECC for the dispatching and LTSA team for the WTG’s O&M.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reporting on plant operations activities.
  • Performs other duties necessary to fulfill site requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Gather and analyze production data to provide insights and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Communicate with other company personnel on-site and at other locations.
  • Assist other team members and work with all departments to support the operation in achieving its goals.
  • Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and respond to off-hour call-ins when contacted by phone.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience as operation engineer in Substation.
  • Good technical background and understanding of operations.
  • Familiar with Substation Equipment as MV SWGR, HV-AIS equipment, and Power Transformer, Substation Automation System SAS, protection relays & control systems, etc.
  • University Degree in Electrical engineering.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read substation system schematics.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of H&S procedures.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and under pressure in remote conditions.
