Position Title Maintenance Engineer Location AMUNET – Ras Gharib, Egypt Reporting to Maintenance Manager Direct Reports Technicians
Position Purpose
Responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment for a 220kV substation. This role involves executing preventive maintenance, resolving system issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards to guarantee uninterrupted power transmission.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all substation activities comply with local, national, and international safety and regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, such as lockout-tagout (LOTO) and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Oversee the daily operations of the 220 kV substation, monitoring equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and busbars.
- Respond promptly to system alarms and faults, ensuring minimal interruption to service.
- Utilize SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, control, and analysis of substation performance to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for high-voltage equipment to maintain peak operational efficiency and extend equipment lifespan.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and servicing of electrical systems, including transformers, protection relays, and grounding systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, testing results, and equipment performance log.
- Generate operational and maintenance reports, summarizing key performance indicators (KPIs) and highlighting any incidents or issues
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 years’ experience working in high-voltage substations, specifically at 220 kV or higher
- Minimum 4 years’ experience with a proven track record in managing S/S O&M activities.
- Proven experience in maintenance planning (scheduling).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
Required Skills
- Electrical equipment maintenance and testing.
- In-depth knowledge of high-voltage equipment, protection schemes, and control systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for substations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
