Role:

  • The Cost Engineer is part of the Project Controls Team, which operates under the Direction of Engineering, Project Management, and Control Systems — a division within EnerMech’s Lifting Solutions Business Line.
  • The Cost Engineer role is primarily responsible for analysing the project estimate, liaising with other functions where necessary to agree the estimate breakdown and prepare a budget for the project that complies with reporting / project control requirements.
  • Ensure that the business risks are reduced to a minimum and that costs and value are forecasted and reported correctly.
  • Supporting the relevant regions and business line leadership in providing cost forecasting and reporting

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

  • Prepare and / or implement EnerMech and Client cost control procedures and associated cost coding.
  • Phase the project estimate in line with the Execution Plan across the durations of each phase of the job.
  • Ensure manhours and related costs are recorded and coded correctly and that timesheet submissions are made as required in order to support cash flow.
  • Prepare cost, manhour and cash forecasts based on updated progress, forecasts and trends.·         Maintain Cost History sheets for every major area of the project.
  • Prepare project cost and manhour reports in a timely fashion reflecting the current forecasts and trends complete with narratives and explanations for variances etc.
  • Continuously review the current costs of all service and operational activities against the budget and remain aware of trends resulting from changes to the scope of work.
  • Control variations to workscope and support with estimate of total costs of variations including manhours and manhour associated costs, additional equipment, materials, etc
  • Liaise with planners to ascertain and agree project progress and thus future invoice values.
  • Carry out analysis of trends and highlight potential problems with recommendations for remedial action on an "Early Warning" basis.
  • Prepare adhoc cost studies and estimates as required.
  • Contribute to building a cost-conscious attitude throughout the project team.
  • Carry out additional tasks as may be required from time to time.
  • Be aware of and identify potential back charges from Client/subcontractors.
  • Liaise with Project Accountant with regard to the contract actual rates and associated cost data.
  • Possess a significant degree of expertise in all aspects of Cost Control

متطلبات الوظيفة

Essential:

  • Minimum HNC/HND in Business Management, Quantity Surveying or Law or similar.
  • Experience in a cost or project controls role, or in an engineering discipline involved in producing cost estimates or proposals.
  • Commercial and contractual diligence.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

Preferred:

  • Project Management and delivery vs deadlines.
  • Risk analysis.
  • Certificates demonstrating self-education in project management, project controls, and data analysis.
  • Experience in the Lifting Solutions business, with a strong understanding of crane operations and maintenance.
  •  Familiarity with the technical, commercial, and operational aspects of lifting equipment and support services.
