MarTrust Corporation Limited (‘’MarTrust’’) is an Authorised Payment Institution, regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”), that provides payments solutions and services focused on the maritime industry.

This role will lead MarTrust’ KYB function (including new Corporate Customers Onboarding and Customer Reviews) and is the key element in a smooth onboarding and reviewing of Corporate Customers. Ensuring all processes are as efficient as possible and remain compliant with the regulatory requirements and aligned with MarTrust internal risk framework.

Overseeing and Owning of KYB & KYP processes including cross functional support:

  • Lead the KYB processes for new corporate customer onboarding, periodic reviews, and event-driven customer reviews, ensuring these are completed in compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies.
  • Oversee the KYP processes, which include the onboarding and periodic review of financial service providers (partners) to ensure they meet MarTrust's compliance and supplier requirements.
  • Ensure all KYB and KYP activities are conducted in line with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure BCP is in place while providing cross support to other compliance operational processes where required.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the KYB and KYP teams to ensure efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Establish team goals and OKRs and provide regular feedback and coaching to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Ensuring the team is able to effectively perform KYB of Corporate Customers and periodic and event-driven customer reviews in line with the agreed policy, demonstrating MarTrust’s commitment to conducting KYB and on-going monitoring in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, by reviewing collected customer information, conducting required screening, and researching the customer, its related entities, and transactions.

Risk Management and Continuous Monitoring:

  • Work closely with the MLRO, Head of Compliance Operations, and CCO to monitor and assess financial crime risks, including customer and partner behavior and transactional activity.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure ongoing compliance with the company's risk management framework.
  • Regularly review and update procedures, policies, and SOPs to ensure alignment with regulatory changes and internal requirements for both KYB and KYP processes.

Staff Training, Testing & Development:

  • Design and deliver targeted training programs to ensure both KYB and KYP team members are well-versed in the latest compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure identified gaps in knowledge are addressed through tailored training and development initiatives.
  • Providing staff training and adjusting training content accordingly to ensure identified gaps identified during the testing and monitoring are closed. Supervision of daily operational tasks and daily testing in order to achieve a smooth running of the compliance operations and ensuring sufficient training is provided to the team accordingly.

Reporting, Testing & MI Management:

  • Oversee the generation and analysis of Management Information (MI) reports related to the KYB and KYP functions and ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior leadership.
  • Involvement with senior tasks and assistance to the Head of compliance Operations to ensure smooth running of Compliance Operational Functions. Proposing the changes to the compliance operational processes to Compliance Officer or the MLRO in order to close gaps identified during the daily testing.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of key reports and escalate any issues or challenges as required.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for monitoring operational effectiveness, identifying trends and risks, and operational recommendations to leadership.

Collaboration with Senior Leadership & Auditors:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic decisions related to KYB and KYP operations.
  • Represent the KYB & KYP function in meetings with internal and external auditors, ensuring the appropriate presentation and explanation of both KYB and KYP processes.
  • Ensure readiness for external audits and regulatory inspections related to KYB and KYP processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ICA Diploma in Compliance, ACAMS or equivalent.
  • Proven experience leading a KYB function within a regulated entity, ideally within the FinTech industry within UK and Europe.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully developing and implementing KYB policies, procedures, and controls in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Significant experience in leading teams, managing complex compliance functions, and interacting with senior leadership.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex compliance issues in business-friendly terms.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team of compliance professionals.
  • Change Management: Ability to manage and lead change, ensuring the team adapts effectively to evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth understanding of the UK regulatory environment, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements, Payment Services Regulations, PSD2, and anti-money laundering (AML) laws.
  • Data Analysis & Risk Assessment: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Credible & Influential: Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence decisions to ensure KYB is aligned with strategic business goals.
