POSITION OBJECTIVE

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Associate Legal Counsel with 2-4 years of post-qualification experience to join our lean and agile in-house legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this is a fantastic opportunity for a bright and ambitious lawyer to play a pivotal role in shaping the legal framework of the business. You will be instrumental in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, supporting product development, and ensuring compliance in a dynamic and innovative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to:
    • Partnership agreements, vendor contracts, service level agreements, and licensing agreements.
    • Customer terms and conditions, privacy policies, and end-user agreements.
    • Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Monitor and advise on relevant financial services regulations, data protection laws, and consumer protection laws applicable to FinTech operations in various jurisdictions.
    • Assist in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses and permits.
    • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
  • Product Development & Innovation:
    • Provide legal guidance and risk assessment for new product features, services, and technological innovations from conception to launch.
    • Advise on legal implications of emerging technologies (e.g., blockchain, AI, open banking).
  • Corporate Governance:
    • Support general corporate legal matters, including corporate secretarial duties, board resolutions, and shareholder agreements.
    • Assist with corporate structuring and fundraising activities as required.
  • Dispute Resolution:
    • Assist in managing and resolving legal disputes and litigation matters.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate legal risks across all business operations.
    • Provide training to internal teams on legal and compliance topics.
  • General Legal Support:
    • Offer pragmatic and actionable legal advice to various departments, including product, engineering, sales, marketing, and operations.
    • Keep abreast of legal developments and industry best practices relevant to the FinTech sector.

متطلبات الوظيفة

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 2 to 4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) gained at a reputable international law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Essential Experience: Demonstrated experience in commercial contracts and a strong understanding of general corporate law.
  • Highly Desirable Experience: Prior experience in the FinTech, financial services, technology, or payments industry is a significant advantage.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with financial services regulations, data privacy laws, and consumer protection laws in various jurisdictions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify legal issues, assess risks, and propose practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous startup environment.
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and keen to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic would be a plus.
