Job Summary

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure guests live the “Ultimate Experience”
  • Be punctual, greet colleagues and reports to supervisor upon arrival for duties.
  • Arrive at work well groomed, prepared and display enthusiasm.
  • Maintain and control departmental standards.
  • Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  • Handle all monies and keep bank floats from the hotel.
  • Keep bar, fridges and cigars well maintained.
  • Requisition, pick up, verify, and store all requisitions for juices, soft drinks and food items used for the bar areas.
  • Prepare all needs for larger groups and packages.
  • Stock the bar areas with, juices, soft drinks, glassware and condiments.
  • Develop a complete working knowledge of the menu items and their ingredients and preparation.
  • Develop a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar, i.e. mocktails, specialty drinks, etc.
  • Ensuring the bar is presented with high quality style recipes.
  • Order according to events after investigating with the managers the requirements.
  • Transfer all extras to other outlets to avoid wastage and spoilage.
  • Understand the menu and the daily specials as well as what is not available.
  • Maintain all par stocks during service.
  • Ensure that all details of service are performed properly and that every guest receives the highest quality of service.
  • Ensuring bar area cleaned and well maintained.
  • Keep bar records and files well updated.
  • Monitor temperature records, recipes and daily availabilities up to date.
  • Minimize and control breakage.
  • Be creative and innovative during low seasons and high seasons to utilize revenue by implementing beverages, cocktails and Mocktails.
  • Utilize the hotel's computer system ringing up sales, printing checks, closing checks and completing closing readings.
  • Ensure proper mixing, blending, etc. of drinks.
  • Service all drinks for service bar area, guests and the bar area.
  • Keep the bar area neat and tidy at all times clearing dishes and glassware whenever possible.
  • Ensure that the bar is stocked and all side opening and closing duties are completed.
  • Greet each guest promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture.
  • Report any accident immediately, no matter how minor, to a manager.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management.
  • Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, china, glass and silver if requested.
  • Handle any problem this may arise informing a manager of the problem and how it was resolved.
  • Participate in service activities when needed.
  • Present grooming according to the hotel standards.
  • Attend all the training subjects to the service colleagues and follow all rules and policies of the hotel.
  • Be flexible in assisting around different areas of the hotel in response to business and client needs.
  • Identify potential problems and ask for assistance before breakdown occurs.
  • Provide lateral service within the hotel whenever needed.
  • Coordinate and respect decisions by the team leader.
  • Provide bar related trainings for the service staff.
  • Share bar related topics and information via notice boards.
  • Support team members when required for service.
  • Maintain and order equipment’s according to the needs.
  • Maintain all bar files and follow hygiene standards.
  • Maintain stock.
  • Use expiry labeling effectively.
  • Ensure beverages are issued and recorded correctly.
  • Assist the service team when needed.


CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Minimum of one year experience in 5* hotel experience as a bartender.
  • Knowledge in Micros and cashiering procedure.
  • Well versed English communication and writing skills.
  • Complaint handling skills
  • Up selling skills.
  • Use of techniques and styles of preparing beverages.
  • Creativity and bartending techniques.
  • Experience in different bars.
  • Should be able to work under pressure in a customer service environment.
