Role Summary

The Financial Crime Consultant role is critical for someone with deep expertise in FCC, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), Transaction Monitoring (TM), and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes. The selected candidate will be tasked with revamping and upgrading current procedures, while also providing strategic oversight and advisory support to the existing team. This position requires a seasoned professional with a proven history of managing sizable teams within the KYC, TM, and Fraud departments in a fintech setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revamp Procedures: Spearhead the reform of existing FCC, AML, PEP, TM, and KYC procedures to meet the utmost standards of compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Oversight: Offer strategic guidance and supervision across the FCC domain, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Advisory Services: Serve as a principal advisor, delivering expert analysis on financial crime risks, evolving trends, and effective mitigation strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of up to 30 professionals in the KYC, TM, and Fraud departments, promoting a culture of excellence and ongoing enhancement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee that all FCC endeavors adhere to both domestic and international legal and regulatory stipulations.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Propel innovation and continual improvement within the FCC function by leveraging advanced technology to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work in close collaboration with senior management and external stakeholders to ensure the fintech bank's FCC strategies are robust and progressive.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in financial crime compliance, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity managing significant teams within the KYC, TM, or Fraud departments of a fintech or financial services organization.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications such as CAMS or CFCS are strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of FCC, AML, PEP, TM, and KYC regulations; exceptional leadership and project management capabilities; superior analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Law, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Advanced degrees in these fields are preferable.
  • Professional Certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 Years’ Experience in financial crime compliance, with a comprehensive understanding of AML, KYC, PEP, and Transaction Monitoring frameworks.
  • Proven Track Record in a leadership or consultancy role within the financial crime compliance space, preferably within a fintech or a financial institution environment.
  • Experience Managing Large Teams, with a successful history of leading and mentoring a team of at least 30 professionals in the KYC, TM, and Fraud departments.
  • Demonstrated Ability to successfully revamp and enhance compliance procedures and processes.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Expert Knowledge of current financial crime risks, regulatory requirements (both domestic and international), and best practices in FCC, AML, PEP, TM, and KYC.
  • Strong Leadership Skills, capable of providing strategic direction, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities, with a keen eye for identifying and mitigating potential financial crime risks.
