Purpose Of Role

Assisting to ensure the smooth operation and efficiency of the Engineering Department, to plan, direct, control, coordinate and participate in all areas and activities of the department. Advises and confers with the management on effective use of heat, light and power and proper application of repair and maintenance plan and procedure. Will keep costs to minimum and ensure that the Hotels standards of service maintenance and repair of the entire hotel is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • To act in the capacity of the Engineering Department representative as a trouble shooter to the guest, thereby continually working towards better guest contact and guest satisfaction.
  • To train all new staff members concerned within his portfolio and to develop the skills and an ability of these member of staff to handle guest situations properly in efficient and courteous manner in accordance with Hotels Standard Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct periodic checks on execution policies and procedures with report to the Engineering Manager.
  • To maintain close liaison with others department and ensure staff awareness of hotel policies and procedures.
  • To assist the Engineering Manager to obtain maximum control of expenditures through the effective utilization of workers and physical asset of the hotel.
  • Coordinates and direct the staff skilled tradesman in operating and maintaining the mechanical and electrical plant and building. Holds regular meeting with the shift operation personal to review methods and procedures, plan for changes and coordinate special projects.
  • Make periodic inspection tours to check work progress and condition of building equipment.
  • Responsible for room rehabilitation program, including furniture and drapery repair replacement.
  • Establishes and administers proper work performance record s and reports, inventory controls, work order procedures and all allocations of charges.
  • Information relevant to employees is released and communicated to all level, in the engineering department.
  • Follow-up all hotel work orders for maintenance to make sure that they have been carried effectively.
  • Instructs careful handling of furniture, the use of supplies with particular emphasis quantities, care of walls, floors/carpets and light fixture, removal of furniture of using ladders, care and cleanliness of tools and utensils,
  • Ensure that effective practice and enforcement of local Health & Safety regulations are net.
  • To supervise and control the performance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of all engineering employees.
  • Maximum care is given to the maintenance of physical assets of the entire hotels department in order to keep them in the best possible functions state.
  • To follow Repair & Maintenance and Energy Management Plan, ensure the most economical use of energy resources.
  • To prepare daily reports at the end of the day or evening in order to document Repair & Maintenance activities.
  • To assist in all expenses in the Repair & Maintenance operation, and not exceed controlling budgets.

Profile Required

  • Must know or acquire the practical and the theoretical skills and knowledge related to the field of work and its implementation.
  • Must know all materials, tools, parts and equipment related to your field of operation.
  • Able to maintain and update all information related to your field of operation.
  • Knowledgeable on the implementation of the energy program.
  • Able to direct and distribute the work in proper way to employees in order to minimize errors.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Safety Awareness information, technical drawing,

  • Must possess at least a Diploma or Professional Certificate in Building Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in building or hotel maintenance
