Job Description

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections and payroll.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of Accounting and Financial staff with the President/CEO.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions.
  • Preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets as required.
  • Production of periodic financial statements and other reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
  • Responsible for reviewing and filing of annual corporate tax return prepared by outside accountants. Also responsible for making estimated tax payments.
  • Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Provides financial analysis.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Works with and reports to the President/CEO.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required in Industry (performing functions similar to those described above) or in Public Accounting (Public Accounting experience preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
