Local Purchasing Specialist

Job Description

Participate in developing, implementing and evaluating purchasing plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives.

Perform or coordinates activities involved with purchasing goods and services such as, equipment, tools, and supplies.

Supervise purchasing Rep. involved in the internal purchase of products for the company at minimal cost, consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications.

Implement the product cost reduction strategy including savings, resource plans and supplier process improvements.

Ensure the implementation of instructions regarding purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.

Ensure the provision of goods and services that support the achievement of overall business objectives.

Supervise the selection and ordering of materials, supplies, and services from vendors.

Verify of purchase orders, requisitions and associated invoices for equipment purchases.

Communicate with supplier changes in specifications, change orders, quantities, and adjustments.

Ensure defective parts are returned to suppliers in line with company procedures.

Ensure savings are captured via implementation of strategies in assigned spend areas.

Manage the business relationships with our strategic suppliers to ensure robust service and timely delivery of consignments.

Handle all invoicing issues with the finance team to enhance the procure to pay cycle.

Take ownership for delivering end to end sourcing activity for appropriate complexity projects to build knowledge of the sourcing process, tools, and skills.

Skills

From 1 to 3 years of experience as a purchasing specialist or in a similar role.

Bachelor's degree in science.

Previous experience in pharmaceutical industries.

Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing, and resource planning systems.
