You will be working as Automation Senior Field Service Engineer/Senior Field Service Engineer and will be the part of Electrification business area for Services division based in Cairo, Egypt. In this role you will be reporting to Field Service Team Leader and will be responsible to execute medium to high complex automation service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines, deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers, in close co-operation with customer and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB



Your responsibilities

  • Studying customer requirement for RTU and SCADA based on the specs and conducted meetings, preparing the system architecture and bill of materials accordingly, programming and commissioning of RTU/SCADA and relays based on different communication protocols, performing all the activities related to assigned projects including preparation of drawings, BOM, schematics and automation drawings
  • Identifying the best automation solution that meets the customer requirements and supporting in testing this solution and giving the after sales service, implementing latest ABB technologies related to the product and being sure of following ABB processes related to this activity, technical studying and reviewing for orders in hand to be sure that all client specification is strictly followed
  • Applying safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities, reporting unsafe practices and incidents, leading HSE activities at site, contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing Service work according to customer order and expectation, clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility
  • Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations, working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base to improve system performance and operational performance improvements, utilizing the local practices for notifying the account team of opportunities
  • While on-site, works with the customer to identify opportunities and the best automation solution for improving the customers operations and eliminating pain points, planning and preparing the site work for larger project team and manage related subcontractors at site, performing all the activities related to assigned projects including preparation of drawings and system architecture, BOM, schematics and system configuration
  • Programming, testing, and commissioning of RTU/SCADA and relays based on different communication protocols, performing complex field service tasks, identifies technical problems, and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform and developing, coaching and providing technical guidance to colleagues
  • Coaching technicians and engineers and supervise complex site activities, supporting the certification process of associate field service engineers, preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for service activities and acting as trainer when needed, for team members and customers
  • Preparing all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative, utilizing all relevant tools, reporting work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed, troubleshooting equipment/Systems/Process failures and requests proactive corrective actions and making recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
  • Acting as a technical consultant in own specific area of expertise, proactively planning and executing work on a first-time right approach with customers, and ensures the job is done on time and on quality, identifying improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the way of working and the products in question and drives improvement actions in own area of responsibility

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical engineering.
  • Good knowledge and experience in electrical and automation systems with good knowledge about design processes
  • Experience in SAP, AutoCAD and Eplan
  • RTU and Substation SCADA systems experience is a preferred
  • Good communication skills, presentation skills & knowledge about ISO 9001 requirements
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory
