As the Frontend Engineer, you will be responsible for conceiving, designing and delivering wowing interfaces, and putting our users' experience first. You will liaise with the other backend and front-end engineers within their product stream, QA and Design
In this role, you will:
- Work as part of an agile team to conceive, deliver & improve features for our products in a fast paced environment.
- Play a significant role in planning sessions around new product features, and deliver detailed roll- out/roll-back strategies for releases.
- Work closely with product owners on the feasibility of upcoming changes & providing accurate timelines of work.
- Work closely with our visual design team, to build up to standards HTML/CSS/JS/Client-Side components.
- Ensure feature comparability across multiple browsers & platforms.
- Identify & address performance issues for products that scale to millions of users.
- Create unit tests in accordance with our established standards to cover assigned work.
- Write and maintain exemplary code following dubizzle’s programming practices.
- Actively participate in code review.
- Gain a detailed understanding of the complete architecture of our product and the position of your product stream in it
- Research and apply new industry trends as part of your daily work
- Experiment with new front-end development technologies
- Impact the direction and scope of your team’s technical and business vision

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred
- 3+ years of experience with HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with preprocessors.
- 1+ years of experience using client-side frameworks and building tools such as Gulp and webpack
- Professional experience using React, SASS, understanding Flexbox, RTL styling and up-to-date with latest CSS standards.
- Experience with writing unit tests for single page applications and writing acceptance tests for web applications.
- Design and delivery of multiple REST based APIs and previous exposure to Service Oriented Architecture.
- Experience with VueJS and AngularJS is a plus.
- Strong background of Agile Methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum and XP.
- Inside-out knowledge of jQuery and Javascript/ES2015.
- In-depth understanding of Responsive Web design and the Mobile First approach.
- Inside-out knowledge of pre-processors.
- In-depth understanding of build tools such as Gulp and webpack.
- Good understanding of Git version control system including – cherrypicks, merge strategies, bisect, rebasing and reverts
- Familiarity with Python and Django framework preferred
- In-depth understanding of different caching layers and strategies
